Quick Search Netscape 7 & Internet Explorer 6

Netscape 7 as well as Internet Explorer 6 offer a new and quick way to search for a word or phrase on the Internet. All you have to do is type a word or phrase in the Address Bar and press Enter.

Caps Lock & Windows' Accessibility Options

It's really frustrating when you type for 10 minutes without looking at the screen and then you look up and discover that the Caps Lock was on the whole time. One way to deal with inadvertent Caps Lock activation is to use Windows' Accessibility Options. The one we're interested in here is called Toggle Keys. Toggle Keys sounds a tone when you activate Caps Lock.

To use Toggle Keys, choose:

Start|Settings|Control Panel. When Control Panel opens, double-click Accessibility Options. When the dialog opens, select the check box labeled "Use ToggleKeys and click OK.

Now if you accidentally turn Caps Lock on you will hear a tone. Of course your speakers need to be turned on.

Q.    McAfee Virus Scan Settings

Thank you for your help today and your note.  I ran my McAfee Virus Scan this evening.

The background settings read:

System Scan: Active

Download and E Mail Scan: Disabled

Internet Filter: Disabled

Hawk for Outlook: Inactive

Firewall Intrusion Monitor: Inactive

Internet Traffic: Block All

Are these the correct settings?  If not, how do I change any of them?

A. McAfee Virus Scan Settings

If your Virus Scan looks like mine, Version 6.02, here is what to do:

Open Virus Scan

Select Pick a Task

Select Change my Virus Scan Settings

Select Configure VShield background scanning and put a check mark in all five boxes and then select Apply Close Virus Scan.

Q:    Juno Primary Connection

Hi, In Computer newsletter of July 2002 you instructed how to make" Juno my primary connection" I was having no problems but figured I should do what was advised.  Since then, each time I try to use E-mail I get message---Dial Up Connection and select service you want.  When I try to get E mail, get message" Wait a moment while Juno loads the message you selected.  This sign with the hourglass goes on and on with nothing happening so I just give up.  Would appreciate any advice you might have as really miss E-mail.  Thanks

A:    Juno Primary Connection

It appears that the Dial Up service you are selecting when Juno asked for it isn't working.  This leads me to believe there is more than one.

Go to Start|Settings|Control Panel/Internet Options then choose the Connections Tab. Is there more than one Dial Up listed? If there is more than one try selecting a different one. Or you could select the item labeled: Never dial a connection.

Let me know how this goes.

(Hi, Selected--never dial a connection-- and my problems seem over. Thank you very much for your prompt service.)
