Q:    Internet Explorer Doesn'f Remember Passwords

Do you know how or why IE would stop remembering passwords?  If you are in IE and go to a page that you must login, normally IE remembers the username and password.  How do you turn it back on if it isn't working?

A:    Internet Explorer Doesn'f Remember Passwords

Here is one possibility.

Tools, Internet Options, Security Tab

Go to the bottom of Security Settings and put a check mark in the box labeled:

Automatic Login

Q:    How does one clear the recent documents" menu?

I now have windows XP Pro and for the life of me can't find how to clear it. Do you have a

clue?

A:    How does one clear the recent documents" menu?

Right click on your Start Menu, choose Properties

Next select Start Menu, Customize, Click the Advanced Tab and bottom right, Clear List

Q:    Disconnected from the Internet

I was getting numerous disconnects. I even wrote the ISP and complained.

When I would get the disconnect I would lose my ISP connection but it hung up the modem in my computer so I had to click the disconnect icon. When I clicked the icon it would lock up the computer and cause a reboot.

On one occasion I got a normal "knockoff" from the ISP but this time I got the red X on the connect/ disconnect icon and then I realized that the disconnects did not come from my provider or line but from my computer.

The only solution I could think of was a reinstall of win 98 or a new modem and a new modem was the lesser of 2 evils.

I changed to a 3com USR windows modem not a win modem. This cleared all my problems and returned to excellent service.

A:    Disconnected from the Internet

The reader above needed a new modem but read on before you go to that expense.

Idle time can cause a disconnect

Idle time is when your computer is connected to the Internet but you are not sending or receiving any data over your modem. When you are answering or writing or an email, you are online but not using the modem.

Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel and double-click Internet Options.

Select Tool, Internet Options

Choose the Connection Tab and select the name of your Dial-Up Connection then choose Settings.

Click the Advanced Button and look for the option: Disconnect if idle for xx minutes. You can choose to increase the amount of time before Windows instructs the modem to hang up or disable the automatic hang-up altogether.

If you are still getting disconnected you may need to update your Modem driver (s).

To see if this is available visit the website of your modem manufacture.

Still having a problem?

Contract your service provider and then your telephone company.
