Q:        Disk Defragmenter Restarts Continually

I have a problem with the Defragment on my windows 98 Pentium 2computer, when I go to the Defragment it keeps starting over and over. Can u tell me how to fix the problem?

A:         Disk Defragmenter Restarts Continually

Start your computer in Safe Mode and then run Disk Defragmenter.

Good luck.

Q:        System Freezes & Runs Slow

My computer freezes up and runs real slow, we hit ctrl, and alt and delete it says something is not responding we do a disk defrag once a month and a scan disk once a week. Is there any thing else we need to do once a week or once a month? If so how do we do it?

A:         System Freezes & Runs Slow

There are numerous reasons why your system might be slowing down.

One of your programs is probably the reason for the freeze up. If you can figure out which one you might try uninstalling and reinstalling that one program

Did you empty your Recycle Bin, Temporary Internet Files & the Windows Temp Folder?

Do you have at least 30 Megs of free space on your C: Drive?

How much RAM do you have? Do you ever turn the power off?

Defragging once a month is enough for most users.

It is next to impossible to diagnose exactly what is going on with your system by email.

Good luck.

Q:        Turn Off Screen Saver

I've been trying to turn my screen saver off so I can upgrade my AOL 5.0 to 6.0. I cannot get it to go off.  Do I really need to turn the screen saver off?  I was afraid if I didn't turn it off the upgrade would stop.  Inform me

A:         Turn Off Screen Saver

Wasn't aware that you needed to turn of the screen saver to install anything.
But if you would feel better here's how:

Right click on your Desktop, (Make sure you are not on any little Icons) choose Properties. Click on the Screen Saver Tab Now click the little down pointer to the left of Settings. Scroll up to the top of the list and choose None. Click Apply Click OK
Just reverse the process to turn your screen saver back on.
