E-mail questions we get from readers.
hey Dale, Here's 1 for you---I have a "write letters" icon on desktop - when clicked on a message appears that " this unit has performed an illegal operation" & I can't get into write letters. What gives? Sounds like my pc has been doing abortions!
A: Illegal Operation
It would appear that the thing to do would be to delete that desktop shortcut since it doesn't work anyway. We all get those messages every once in a while. Microsoft should change the wording on that error message shouldn't they?
Q: Outlook Express Text Wrap
Son asked the following. How are you sending messages now? It looks like you are bringing them in from another folder? When I open a message from you I have to then open another window to see the words. Also the "wrap around" function must be off. That entire last message was one loooooong line.(it didn't show up on just one page)
A: Outlook Express Text Wrap
Open Outlook Express, Go to Tools, Options, Send
Next select Plain Text Settings and be sure the Automatically wrap text at say 76 characters when
sending is in effect.
Q: Navigating Web TV
Sunday 4:00 I wasn't looking for this -the above but thought I’d go ahead and tell you my problem that I had the last 2 days. I could get the address' Ok but I couldn't get down to the subject line. Also the cursor was giving me fits. The cursor was attached to a word or many words. Evidently there are more ways to reply to a message. It's a miracle how I was able to send messages. I have practiced a lot some days 5 hours--not steady but I'm going to learn if it costs Pa another cow" That's an old Indiana saying. I'll be home in the morning if you want to send me an E-mail.
A: Navigating Web TV
To
go from box to box do this:
Use the Arrow Keys on the Keyboard to move from box to box. After you press one
of the arrow keys that box will be highlighted in Yellow. Type the appropriate
information. The final box is usually label Done and when you see the yellow
border around that one press enter or return on your keyboard.
Q: Edit Address in Outlook Express
Hi Dale: I should have thought of this when you were here--some time ago you entered my kids e-mail addresses so all I had to do was type their fist initial---that's been great, but my 2 daughters have changed e-mail addresses. How do I make this change in my file? You know what a dummy I am, so please make your instruction very detailed. Thanks for your help.
A: Edit Address in Outlook Express
To
Edit an address in your Outlook Express Address Book do this:
1. Open your Address Book by clicking on the Address Icon or go to Tools and
choose Address Book.
2. Find the address you want to change and Right Mouse click on it and
then choose Properties.
3. Select the Name Tab at the top of the box that pops up.
4. On that screen find the Edit Button and click it. (Middle right side of the
box)
5. Type in the new E-mail address and then hit Enter.
6. Click OK.
That is all there is to it. Good luck.
Q: Monitor Display to Large
My display font size or my display size in general is too big. It was fine yesterday and something went weird. I tried to change it but it is so big the buttons (yes, no, cancel are off the screen) so I can’t. Hope you can help
