This month we will share some of the E-mail questions we get from readers and others.
Dale,
I have spent the last 2 hours trying to find an answer to the following 2 questions. Would appreciate any help you could give.
1. When using Microsoft Works spreadsheet I have one field with a date, another with words and the rest are with $ figures. How can I get the $ sign to stay on when I start recording the money amounts. I have to go back to the top and click the icon each time I enter a different amount.
2. I received an email attachment, I think it might have been written in Word. I can't read it because I have works. What can I do to read it? The sender says I should be able to figure it out. Also when I wrote something in Works and sent it attached to an email, some of my friends couldn't read mine. How do I send it so everyone can read it? Thank you very much for your time. :)
Microsoft Works
Open your spreadsheet and select the entire column you want dollar signs in.
Right click on the selected column and choose Format.
From this dialog box choose Currency and click OK.
Now when you enter currency amounts you will have a $.
Word Attachment
Open Microsoft Works
Go to File, Open
When the Open dialog box appears go to where it says Files of Type and click on the down arrow.
Choose a version of Word and then find the Word file they sent you.
As to saving so all can read what you send.
When you save the file choose Files of Type and try RTF or Text. Anyone with Windows can read either of these files.
Dale, Thank you so much for the information. I spent several hours last night trying to get through to the help program on Microsoft. All I got was frustrated. The Computer Club is the greatest. I'm printing your response. I'm also saving your address in my "book" so watch out!!! :) Thank you again
I have a Compaq Presario Computer and am using AOL 5.0. My problem is when I send a E-mail message to a number of friends I send the original to TO and BCC all of the others. If the subject matter is very good I also BCC a copy to myself so I can print it. My problem is when I receive my copy of the message it is repeated three or four times and I don't want to print all of the massage. Also, is there some way I can print only the message without the headers, etc., that accompany the message. Your help in this matter will be appreciated.
As a rule, when you send an email Cc: or Bcc: it is only sent once. Not sure why it is repeating when you get your copy. Next time it happens send me a copy of the original and a copy that you get so I can see it.
As to printing without headers...........Here is one method:
I am going to presume that you know how to select text with your mouse.
Open the email you want to print. If it has headers do this.
Select only the text you want to print and then click on Reply. When your reply window opens choose print. After printing close the Reply window but don't save it. Let me know if this answers your question.
Dale, Your reply completely answered my questions. Thank you and have a Happy Easter.
